At Chalk ("we," "our," or "us"), we prioritize the privacy of parents and young athletes. This policy outlines how our mobile application "Chalk: Gymnastics Score Tracker" handles data across iOS and Android devices, including how information is synced to our cloud and managed through the App Store and Google Play.
1. Parental Use & Children's Privacy
This Application is designed for use by parents and legal guardians.
In compliance with COPPA and global privacy standards, we do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children under 13. Any minor-related data (e.g., gymnast names or scores) is provided solely by the parent/guardian who maintains control over the account and has consented to tracking athletic progress for educational or personal improvement purposes.
2. Information Collection & Cloud Synchronization
A. Information We Collect (Cloud Data)
To provide cross-device synchronization and secure backups, Chalk collects and stores the following on our secure servers (Google Firebase):
- Authentication Data: When you sign in (via Google or Apple), we store your Name, Email Address, and Profile Picture. This is used strictly for account identification and authentication.
- User-Generated Athletic Data: We store athlete profiles (names), meet details (dates, meet names), and numerical scores. This ensures that when you log in on a new device, your "Road to 40" progress and history are restored.
B. Device-Specific & Local Data
- Visual Media: The images generated for the "Chalkboard" share feature are processed entirely on your device. We do not upload or store these images on our servers.
- Local Storage: A copy of your data is stored locally on your device (localStorage) for offline access. This data is updated automatically when you sync to the cloud.
C. Analytics & Automated Tracking
We use anonymous tracking to improve app performance and stability. This includes:
- Usage Statistics: Tracking events like "Meet Saved" or "Milestone Reached" via Google Analytics.
- Crash Reporting: Technical logs (device model, OS version) help us fix bugs through Google Crashlytics.
3. Subscriptions, Payments & Restoration
Chalk offers a "Premium" tier for unlimited meets, athletes, and cloud sync. We **do not** directly collect or store your payment card details.
- Platform Billing: All financial transactions are managed by **Apple App Store** or **Google Play Store**. We only receive a confirmation "token" to verify your subscription status.
- Restore Purchases: Our app includes a "Restore Purchase" feature that allows you to re-validate your subscription on new devices using your platform-specific account (Apple ID or Google Account).
4. Third-Party Service Providers
We rely on the following providers to maintain the Chalk ecosystem. Please refer to their respective privacy policies:
- Google Firebase: Account authentication and real-time database hosting.
- Google Analytics / Crashlytics: Stability and performance monitoring.
- Meta (Facebook) SDK: Ad attribution and marketing effectiveness.
5. Data Retention & Your Right to Deletion
We retain your data only for as long as your account remains active. You have full control over the permanent deletion of your data.
How to Delete Your Information:
- Individual Records: You may delete specific meet records at any time within the "History" tab. This utilizes a "Soft Delete" sync logic to ensure the record is removed from all your devices during the next sync.
- Permanent Account Purge: Within the "Stats" tab, you can initiate a permanent deletion of your entire account. This is a multi-step process for your protection:
- Confirmation: You must confirm the deletion request twice.
- Verification: You must type "DELETE" in all caps to authorize the action.
Impact of Deletion:
- Immediate Wipe: Upon authorizing a full deletion, all athlete profiles, score history, and user settings are immediately erased from your device's local storage.
- Cloud Purge: A bridge command is sent to our servers to permanently delete your account and all associated cloud records.
- Automatic Logout: You will be instantly logged out. If you choose to log back in with a paid subscription, a new empty account will be automatically created.
